Upcycled from stained or discolored garments

Created in my studio in Brooklyn

/ˈpetrīˌkôr/

noun

a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather.

In this messy entangled world, imperfection and decomposition flourish beautifully. There is no separation between the human and the more than human.

The work seeks to bring attention to the way this interconnection is already queer, distinct, and glorious. It invites the wearer to consider themselves as part of the natural world instead of in opposition to it.

Each piece is inspired by a different natural phenomenon - plants, animals, fungi, minerals and forces of nature.

I intentionally use dying techniques that are not completely in my control. Each piece is a collaboration between fabric, pigment, water, temperature, and me.

Together we create something that didn’t exist before.
